Landscaping and Gardening Made Easy
Are you considering new landscaping for your yard this year? With a little planning, you can landscape your space just like a pro!
Planning a landscape requires some research and knowledge either on your own or with a professional. Perhaps you already know exactly how you want your backyard to look, if not, consider asking a professional landscaper or a friend with a green thumb.
It's a good idea to draw your landscaping plan on paper - in fact, draw a site map of your entire yard, have a plan in place. Landscape planning can be lots of fun. Check out other gardens and look in magazines and books for ideas and inspiration on what to include. Your landscaping plan can include shrubs, bushes, trees, flowers, and of course, vegetables and herbs. While making your plan, be sure to think about borders (for flower beds and garden areas) and mulch options. You may also want to include birdfeeders, a bird bath and garden statues.
Here's the fun part - decide what flowers to plant in your flowerbed; herbs and vegetables in your garden, and perhaps some seedlings as well. Not sure what to plant where? Visit your gardening supply store and ask what to plant where, i.e., sun or shade; perennials, biennials, annuals, and the like. They will be able to fine-tune your plan.
It's important to set a landscaping and gardening budget. Keep an eye out for sales and specials on the items you want. Make a wish list - if you're looking for specific items, you can shop sales and add to your landscaping annually without breaking the bank.
While landscaping may take a lot of work, once you see the results of your labor – a beautiful, colorful flower bed, a bird sanctuary, a green lawn - you'll know it was worth the effort.
